Total Body Ends With A Bang And A Bonk

I’m not fond of waking up tired. Such is the case this morning. I got a full 7+ hours of sleep. Yet someone I was still sluggish. Uncool. Despite that, I still pushed myself into today’s workout. What happened is that Total Body ends with a bang and a bonk. I’ll explain.

Feeling tired is not likely the best way to enter a workout. What is weird is that I started off doing better in my reps. Increasing reps is a good sign. Especially when you’re increasing your weight used too. Such is what was going on today. More reps. Hell, I got a new personal best on pull-ups too. Mind you, pull-ups are not my strength. Yet this makes two weeks in a row with new personal bests in pull-ups.

By the last 1/4 of the workout I was beginning to bonk. My tiredness was catching up to me. I had to pause in-between moves to catch my breath. Digging down deep to find what energy I could to continue on and do the moves. Being careful not to kill the form and hurt myself.

At the end of the final move I collapsed. So tired. Done. Collect the $200, but don’t pass Go. Lying on the floor in a heap of a sweaty mess. Tired to the core in complete exhaustion. Exhausted to the point where I couldn’t do the cool down moves and certainly unable to push on for the ab workout. Unfortunate.

Strange to have such a personal best of a P90X2 workout in a haze of tired. Odd that I increased reps. Easy to believe that I essentially bonked before the end. I must be mental to have pushed myself like that. Which is why Total Body ends with a band and a bonk. How is your journey to fitness going? Getting stronger? Recovery And Mobility Time

A wonderful morning. Especially after a trying night of local card play. I experienced something while playing some cards last night that is astronomical in the odds. I got beat by the same player, who made the same mistake, twice in two separate games. Each time he had a less than 5% chance of making his hand. To do it twice in two separate games is nothing less than astounding. Ouch. Which is why it’s a good thing that today is recovery and mobility time.

Mostly I needed to stretch out and relax. Three days of workouts and the endurance of the idiocy of bad card play by someone else meant I needed to unwind a bit. I’m really diggin the use of the foam roller. Gets me all loosened up and ready to move on with the day. There are times where I feel like it might be worth it to spend 30 minutes foam rolling each morning.

I’ve put last night’s peeved feelings to rest. I’m foam rolled and stretched. I’m about to down a hearty breakfast. Next up it’s time to finish up another theme song, get it all slicked up and ready to slam. I’m ready because I’ve had my recovery and mobility time. How about you?

Schwetty Schwetty Plyocide

Earlier this past year I played some golf with a buddy at an executive style course. During the round a 3rd person we were on the course with pulled out a gag ball. That gag ball was a schwetty ball from SNL (Saturday Night Live). Apparently there was a skit years ago involving schwetty balls. Not sure what made me think of that other than today was a schwetty schwetty plyocide.

It’s getting warm outside. Thus working out is a little more intense. More sweat is coming out. Due to the increase of warm in the weather I had to take a few extra pauses during the workout. Pushing it as hard as I’m pushing it now is a little more intense in heat. Thus not wanting to pass out or puke, I take the road of a few extra moments between the more hard core moves.

This 3rd week is going pretty smoothly. I’m keeping up. I’m pushing hard. I’m making progress. I’m feeling it, but it’s no longer killing me. Bonus.

Time for a little Shakeology to quench my depleted nutrition needs, a hearty breakfast and get on with the musical day. Are you in need of dropping a few pounds? Getting into better shape? How about joining a fitness challenge and putting yourself to a schwetty schwetty plyocide test? Join me!

No Vacation From X2 Core

It’s a national holiday in America. Memorial Day. To take a moment to thank the men and women who give their lives to our country in the name of freedom. Many of us will spend time with family and or friends while we eat BBQ. I myself am having no vacation from X2 Core. No sir. I did my workout today.

The beginning of week three on my 2nd journey through P90X2 from the beachbody people has been performed and done. I’m definitely feeling much stronger than this time from the previous journey. I’m adding more reps and holding things as they should be.

Some of the moves involving the med ball or the stability ball are still a little tricky. But they are getting better and easier. That alone makes me see the progress of going through this. I love that.

For a moment I thought having done Balance and Power yesterday would have hampered today. I thought wrong. I didn’t have an issue. Though in two days time I will be looking forward to the recovery and mobility downtime.

Time for me to down a Shakeology, make a hearty breakfast, then likely I’ll sit in the sun for a moment. After which I will continue on my quest of watching all of AFI’s top 100 movies of all time – many of which will be the 2nd time I’ve seen them. There’s a break from music, but no vacation from X2 Core.

My Power Is Balanced

Had an impromptu day off yesterday. Friend I hadn’t seen in quite some time came into town. Didn’t have time to get to the workout yesterday. Thus I’ll be putting two body workouts back to back in two days. Despite that I’ll say that my power is balanced today.

I’m still seeing improvements in my reps and weight. I increased both in several moves. In fact there were only a few moves were I tied myself. The hardest move so far in Balance and Power is the Decline Sphinx Plank Press. I did only 1 last week. I wrote down only 1 this week due to the 2nd one being so horrible in form. Damn hard stuff right there.

The rest of the workout went smooth. Kicked ass so to speak. I felt strong and pushed it hard. I believe that based on that I will see some amazing results this time. Beyond my goal of a flat belly.

Normally tomorrow would be a day off in the program, but since I did that yesterday, I’ll be moving into week three with X2 Core. Hopefully I’ll still be feeling strong. At least today my power is balanced.

Getting into shape rocks. I’m starting another fitness challenge in a couple of weeks. Will you join?

Total Body Increased And Abs Are Rippered

I wanted to get into the foam rolling yesterday but factors beyond my control ended up making it a day of rest instead. Today on the other hand my Total Body increased and Abs are Rippered. Pushing, pushing, pushing.

I started out increasing weight in several of the moves. In an effort to keep the workout moving I ended up increasing weight in a couple of moves that I should have reduced. Instead I did a few less reps.

In the second round of the workout I ended up dropping the weight as I was running out of a little steam and getting a bit knackered. Despite that I got another personal best in pullups in the first round. I beat last week by one extra pullup. Whew.

I had to pull back on the tail end of the workout as I was running low on a energy, but I still kept the pace from last week. So if I can match the beginning of this week and hold it until the end of next week I can really feel like I’m pushing through.

For some reason this week ab ripper really snuck up on me. I still managed to get through it, but by the end I was diggin deep to complete it. I guess that’s not a bad thing. Maybe I haven’t been pushing hard enough in the past. Leaving me with low gas in the tank it’s time to go make a Shakeology and hearty breakfast. For today my Total Body increased and Abs are Rippered.

Plyocide Has Been Plyo-Flied

Mmmm… Jumping around and around and around. Another day where I didn’t get my workout in early. This time due to waking up late for a meeting. The trials and tribulations of a musician, right? Late night, not good sleep = sleeping in to make sure I get rested. Oops. Good thing it wasn’t a money meeting. No, it was an organizational meeting for a music festival (that’s all I’m gonna say about it). Doesn’t matter, Plyocide has been Plyo-flied.

I flew threw it today. I sweated more too. I’m still pushing harder. Less pausing of the disc to catch my breath in between the moves is a good thing. The one move I’m still not real keen on is the Frog Burpee Jump. I did get them all in, but I’m not fond of that one. I used to dislike the Mary Katherines with a med ball, but I’m fine with that now.

Drip drip drip. That was me at the end of it all. A few minutes to shower and rest and its back on with the day. More music to make. Then time to blow a little steam off. The best part is, I’m still feeling the energy now that Plyocide has been Plyo-flied.

Get fit with me. Starting in a couple of weeks is the next fitness challenge. You know you want to join!

X2 Core Continues

Week two inside of journey two of P90X2. All sorts of twos there. Inside today is how X2 Core continues the saga of working out beachbody style.

Normally I do my workouts in the morning. Not this time around. I had a very late night working on a piece of music, looking to get a gig for a commercial. Thus I woke up late despite having a recording session this morning. Fortunately a meeting that was scheduled for this afternoon got pushed to tomorrow so I was able to get my workout in this afternoon.

For the most part I got more reps than last week. There were a couple where I did not. Mostly because last week there was a power outage before the last several moves. One of them involves a med ball with a burpee style move and a push up. Not very effective for me. I fought through that and got about half the number of reps with not so great form.

The rest of the workout went well. I pushed myself harder. I did have to pause a couple of times to catch my breath, but I’m feeling good. Time for a Shakeology and start to think about what to make for dinner.

There is a new fitness challenge coming at the beginning of June. Will you be joining me? It’s a great way to get in shape and feel better. Then at some point you’ll be saying how X2 Core continues for you!

Balance & Power Closing Week One

Pow! What a week. Today marks the start of my second journey through the P90X2 workout. I have Balance & Power closing week one. Improvements abound.

Comparing to the final parts of phase one of my first time through to now with my return I’m already blowing myself out of the water. In all the moves that are utilizing weight. Upped by 5 lbs per move is a pretty good increase.

There are moves where I’m going to have to play catch up though. Those are the moves the involve the stability ball. Why? Well, I was modifying in my first journey. The moves the first time around were easy when modified. Now with the stability ball, oh my. Hard. Reps went down and my core was engaged even more. Makes me think that had I had the stability ball the first time around, my belly might be flat already.

Even in the bonus round I increased weight. That’s a huge plus to get there. But then I’m already in pretty good shape from doing beachbody workouts in the year that’s gone by. I’m happy that Balance & Power closing week one has come. I can now take a day to rest and stretch and get ready for next week.

New fitness challenge coming June 4th – are you in?

Feeling The Total Body And Abs

I really enjoyed getting my stretch and foam rolling on yesterday. By yesterday afternoon I was actually feeling the remnants of the plyocide workout in my hamstrings. Wow. It’s so odd to have a workout catch up to you a day later. Today I was getting into feeling the total body and abs workout.

I pushed it pretty hard in the first half. I was feeling really good. Did the most unassisted pullups I’ve ever done, that was a great sensation. The hardest thing this time around was the boing pushups. My first time through P90X2 90 days ago, I did not have a large stability ball. Thus I was doing a modified version then. These were hard. Such that my reps were very low. The bonus of that is, the only way to go from here is up.

A weight increase also happened for a lot of the moves. Despite the weight increase I was also doing more reps in most moves. Which means that next week, I’ll likely increase the weight a bit more.

Ab ripper X2. Need I say more? Seems my core or rather my abs have missed this workout. I kept up with most of it, but there were some moves where I had to let go a little early. I think by next week, I’ll be back in full swing on the abs.

I wonder if I’ll be feeling the total body and abs workout tomorrow or the day after tomorrow? Who knows. I’m sure it will be a wild ride either way. Looking forward to that goal of a perfect flat belly with no fat on it. So close. So close. Time for some Shakeology, Yum.
