Foam Rolling Pleasure

Ah a rest day. Getting back into phase two of P90X2 has been a trip so far. I‘ve never been so sore after a couple of workouts. Which means I’m making good with some foam rolling pleasure. Very needed.

Not sure exactly why I’m feeling so used. So sore. It’s odd. Maybe it’s because I pushed myself pretty good so far. My calfs, my triceps, my lats. All sore.

Happiness is the Recover and Mobility DVD.

I particularly enjoyed the part where I got to sit on the foam roller. Work out some of those kinks. The beauty is, I’m feeling a lot better after the rolling.

So if you’re doing P90X2 and you’re not going through the Recovery and Mobility DVD, why not? When you get some foam rolling pleasure it doesn’t make sense to skip it. Not I’m off to get some Shakeology and make some music.

Feeling The Total Body And Abs

I really enjoyed getting my stretch and foam rolling on yesterday. By yesterday afternoon I was actually feeling the remnants of the plyocide workout in my hamstrings. Wow. It’s so odd to have a workout catch up to you a day later. Today I was getting into feeling the total body and abs workout.

I pushed it pretty hard in the first half. I was feeling really good. Did the most unassisted pullups I’ve ever done, that was a great sensation. The hardest thing this time around was the boing pushups. My first time through P90X2 90 days ago, I did not have a large stability ball. Thus I was doing a modified version then. These were hard. Such that my reps were very low. The bonus of that is, the only way to go from here is up.

A weight increase also happened for a lot of the moves. Despite the weight increase I was also doing more reps in most moves. Which means that next week, I’ll likely increase the weight a bit more.

Ab ripper X2. Need I say more? Seems my core or rather my abs have missed this workout. I kept up with most of it, but there were some moves where I had to let go a little early. I think by next week, I’ll be back in full swing on the abs.

I wonder if I’ll be feeling the total body and abs workout tomorrow or the day after tomorrow? Who knows. I’m sure it will be a wild ride either way. Looking forward to that goal of a perfect flat belly with no fat on it. So close. So close. Time for some Shakeology, Yum.

Foam Rolling For Recovery

Day three into the week of downtime between phase two and phase three of P90X2. It’s more of the foam rolling for recovery. Increasing the stretch and pliability of muscles. I really like the mellower vibe of this particular part of the program.

I’m still not finding any knots. Not even when I’m doing the full pressure style of being on the roller. Obviously it’s a good thing to not be tight in terms of muscle knots.

Tomorrow is another day of Yoga X2.

Until then, it’s time to make a gourmet meal and make more music. Catch ya tomorrow post foam rolling for recovery.

A Week Of Recovery And Mobility Plus Yoga

It’s a sunny day. Snow melting. Ski season pretty much dun. D. U. N. Done. With the back back and abs workout yesterday my phase two came to a close. Now I have a week of recovery and mobility plus yoga for sprinkled fun.

I’ll be taking some photos for my 60 day interval in a few minutes. Then it’s a trip to the shower, an organic breakfast and finally some music business stuff to attend to.

The trip down the foam rolling lane today was great. I’m not sure what it releases, but it sure feels good. Technically I know what’s supposed to release. What I mean is that, I’m not all tied up in knots with my muscles. So I don’t find myself finding too many spots to sit on that need to release. Once in a while I do, but it’s not the pain that I see others hit on the DVDs.

What I do notice is that I feel a little more relaxed afterwards. That’s probably the true goal. Another thing I’ve noticed is that my flexibility is increasing. I’m nearly able to palm the floor in a forward bend. I’m about 1/2inch from being able to do that. That’s the closest I’ve been yet.

Maybe after a week of recovery and mobility plus yoga next week I may be palming the floor, who knows. Where are you at with your journey? Need help? Need a coach?

Recovery Week Begins

The in-between week has begun. In other words, recovery week begins.

Today was another day of Recover + Mobility. The great thing about this portion of the program is how it releases the tension you don’t actively see. I got into a couple of positions that I finally let out an “oh”.

Tony Horton speaks about those moments. For most of my body, I don’t have a lot of knots. I’m pretty stress free. But on my left inner thigh today… Wow. I got one. Good thing for the foam roller. I believe I got it out.

The rest of the week is a switch of days between the foam rolling and stretching and Yoga. So it’s not entirely without a workout.

I’m looking forward to phase two even as recovery week begins.
