P90X & P90X2 Gotta Have’s

Now that I have been thru P90X, there are some supplements and equipment that I have found to be beneficial to my success. They are what I recommend to those I coach and to all my friends & family as well. I have used each and every one of these. I take what I recommend very seriously and I recommend them to you because I have shown results with them. People work with and coach know that I don’t recommend things that I haven’t used or that haven’t worked for me.

  1. Shakeology: This has been a game changer for me and my friends. Needless to say, I was very skeptical about Shakeology when I first heard of it, thinking it was a gimmic. I tried it for the first time in June 2011, thanks to a fellow P90X fan. Within the first month of using it, I felt more energized and healthier. Once I started getting results with it, I knew this was something that could really change lives, and I began recommending it to everyone that I coach. To learn more about Shakeology, click here.
  2. P90X Pull-Up Bar: There are a lot of pull-up bars out there, but I ordered the P90X Pull-Up bar when I ordered P90X. It’s super durable and has held up after hard core use. The great thing about the bar is that it hangs in your doorway and it doesn’t bolt it to anything. The bonus is, it has 7 hand positions, which allows you to do pull-ups multiple ways. 3. Recovery Formula: As a nationally ranked freestyle skier, mountain biker and BMX racer, I have tried a plethora of post workout recovery drinks. Not until P90X Recovery Formula have I felt a drink made a difference. I have been using it after every workout now, and it plays a big role in my performance. 4. Whey Protein: When I was in high school attempting to gain size as a 98 lbs weakling, I tried protein powder. It tasted nasty and because I didn’t have a great regimen it failed me. Now with P90X I’ve been doing my own research on whey protein. I’ve found tremendous benefits for using it when I work out intensely (ala P90X). I have tried several different brands and to learn more about my thoughts on whey protein, click here.
  5. Push-Up Bars: They have been one of the best investments that I have made for my fitness. As recommended in the P90X videos by Tony Horton, I got the push-up bars. They help you to get a deeper, greater range of motion while doing push-ups. To learn more about the push-up bars, click here.
  6. Yoga Mat: A year ago I was introduced to yoga by a very lovely woman. She’d been doing yoga for a long time and it was energizing to be around her when she talked about it. Something so simple, yet so needed in yoga and the P90X workout. Not only will you get use of it in the Yoga X workout, but it comes in handy during the Ab Ripper X workout. Protect your feet and your butt! To learn more about yoga mats, click here.
  7. Yoga Block: Being a guy, I’m not as flexible as I’d like to be. Let’s face it, yoga has some difficult positions. Enter the yoga block. This handy item is extremely useful when it comes to moves like Half Moon & Twisting Half Moon, among others. New to Yoga X, or just not as flexible as Gumby, then you need a yoga block. 8. Stability Ball: I used to use one of these things to do situps and crunches on prior to taking up P90X. However, now with P90X2 there is new use for my Stability ball. If you don’t have one, I strongly recommend it. For me personally, the new stretching routine in P90X2 has improved an injured shoulder. To learn more about the stability ball click here.
