Look Back At PAP Upper And Look At Yoga X2

Yesterday I forgot to post the fact that I did my workout. Today I’ll be updating with a look back at PAP upper and look at yoga X2. Must mean I’m getting a little busy or something…

I didn’t fully complete PAP Upper yesterday. It wasn’t for a lack of being able to do the complexes. Instead it had more to do with a time constraint. I got 3/4 of the workout down. All of complex one and half of complex two. Still a good workout. I was keeping up with it this time as well. So I’m finally getting PAP Upper to be a workout that doesn’t kick my ass.

Today was Yoga X2. Still able to palm the floor and do some of the wrapping moves where before I could not. I’m pretty sure it means I’m becoming more flexible. One of the wrap moves involves my right shoulder. Before my first journey through the P90X2 workout by beachbody, I had issues from an injury. I always thought at some point I’d have it scoped to fix it. Not any more. I have a wider range of mobility than I thought possible and no pain. The joint has fixed itself thanks to the workout of P90X2. Thank you Tony Horton and Beachbody!

I’m still adding the X2 Ab Ripper workout in three days a week during this phase three. The goal is that I will hit a flat belly very soon. Might not be in the time frame I was hoping for, but it’s nearly completion.

Off to have a complete breakfast with a Shakeology. Then it’s music makin time. Make sure you’re on a journey. Even better if you’re able to look back at PAP Upper and look at yoga X2 and say they same thing I’m saying: Thanks for helping fix my body through workouts and exercise.

Yoga X2 And Ab Ripper X2

Another day and another beachbody workout done. The workout today was Yoga X2 and Ab Ripper X2. I had a great time with it. Got all the way through it, no problems.

I’m stretching further in some moves like the wrap around. I’m palming the floor still, which is great considering my height.

The additional portion of the workout today was the Ab Ripper X2 workout. I’m still trying to get that belly completely flat. It’s so close.

Have a great day. Hope you’re working out too. Chime in if you’re doing P90X or P90X2 and how you’re coming along with it. Get some Shakeology and hit up Yoga X2 and Ab Ripper X2 while you’re at it.

Stretching Out With Yoga X2

I got my schedule a little off this week. In that Yoga actually is supposed to happen on Wednesday. However I ended up missing that. Thus I’m stretching out with yoga X2 today.

One of my early goals with Yoga this time around was to be able to palm the floor in a forward bend. If you’ve been following the blog, you’ll know that the goal was reached. Today was no exception. I’m still able to palm the floor and that’s a great feeling.

Another move that has gotten better is one that I don’t know a name of. But it’s where you loop one arm under a leg while in a lunge and reach around to grab the wrist of the other arm that is wrapping around the back. Up until about phase 1 of this journey I was only ever able to touch my fingers. Getting to the point of being able to grab the wrist was never a thought.

The cool thing is… I can now grab my wrist in this move. I have to attribute this ability to the X2 program. It has strengthened my right shoulder and increased it’s range of mobility. No surgery, no specific physical therapy. I always thought at some point, due to an old injury, that I’d have to have it scoped to fix it. Appears that I have thought wrong. That makes me very happy.

I know that next week, when I get the right sequence to the workout, I’ll be doing an extra set of Ab Ripper X2 after the yoga workout. Still a little more to go on the little bit of puff on my lowest part of my 6-pack.

It’s time to have an awesome breakfast with a Shakeology. Then I’ll look at some more music and possibly get another round of golf in today as well. Have a great day!

Palming The Floor In X2 Yoga

Two days in a row where I’m waking up exhausted. Not the way I want to end a month and start another. I’m committed to getting through a second journey of P90X2 but the motivation was hard today. The beauty of today was palming the floor in X2 Yoga!

One of two goals in this round is palming the floor in a forward bend. That goal has been realized today. That alone is yet another personal best. How is that possible two days in a row while being tired as hell?

Not to dwell on it. I’m off to breakfast and some shakeology. Tomorrow is the last workout of the first phase. 60 days to go and I should be seeing the realization of my other goal!

The Palm In Yoga

This morning’s workout was all about the stretch, relax and do those strange poses. One thing I’m starting to dig about the whole Yoga concept is that I’m finally getting to a point where I can bend over. Not that I couldn’t before, however, for me right now it’s all about the palm in yoga. Meaning I want to be able to palm the floor.

When beginning the X2 journey I couldn’t really do much more than get my fingers to the floor. Easy enough. But getting the palms down there too, yikes that was tough. I imagine that it’s a combination of the yoga and the foam rolling. I’d bet that the foam rolling is helping more than I can tell.

Another noticeable thing today was more sweat. Yup, since I was pushing moves further I was sweating more. Another accomplishment is my longest crane hold yet. A tough move for balance and somehow I was able to finally hold it about 1/2 of the time length Tony calls out for. That’s improvement.

There’s three more workouts left in this journey then it’s on to the next Challenge! I’m excited, I’m seeing results. I’m in better shape than ever. I really think the next round will push me over the edge when I get it completed. Get in shape with me! You’ll be glad you did. Pretty soon you’ll be happy about the palm in yoga too.

Ending Recovery Week With Yoga

Today marked my last hard day of working out in Phase Two of the P90X2 journey. It was a yoga day. Much like last time, I’m feeling like I’m getting further. I’m really excited to be ending recovery week with yoga.

Getting ever closer to being able to palm the floor in a forward bend. That’s a tough feat for someone who has long legs and stands 6’4″. I’ll tell ya, it’s kinda exciting to finally start seeing progress with all of it. Time. It takes time.

In a way, this moving through a workout regimen has been a lot like music. You build on it every day. Eventually you see the progress. At least that’s the way it is for me. Though I’m much faster with music. My body doesn’t really build muscle like most guys do. I’ve always been lean and it’s always been difficult to put on muscle and weight.

Now I’ve finally getting some definition. I’m finally putting on some muscle. Maybe it’s because I don’t do steroids. I’m not looking for the quick fix, I’m looking for the right route. So far that route started with P90X last year and is still going with P90X2 this year. Feeling stronger than ever before and definitely getting more limber than ever.

That’s a great way to be ending recovery week with yoga in the P90X2 journey. Phase three starts Wednesday. I can’t wait!

Impromptu Break Into Yoga X2

Got sidetracked for a couple of days. Ended up doing some work on a video thing. Then got a call to do music for a trailer. Deadlines and a little massage ended up giving me an impromptu break into yoga x2.

I was feeling a bit more relaxed going through the moves this time around. I think that’s a good thing. Mostly because I was getting further into the moves than I normally do. Had a couple of bobbles on the the left side of the warrior 3 part, but otherwise pretty solid.

Even had a moment of brilliance with the Crane move where I got fairly well balanced before losing it. It will be a great day when I’m able to move into Crane and hold it.

Time to get on with the next workout tomorrow which will end my phase two and begin my recovery week. Looking forward into getting through the final phase of the P90X2 journey. Once in a while life happens. When it does, don’t be bummed if you get an impromptu break into yoga X2. You’ll swing right back in and keep moving forward.

Ah Yoga X2

Today was week two of phase two and with it came yoga. Sometimes I really enjoy it. Sometimes not so much. I’m here to say that today I enjoyed it. So ah yoga X2. Made me feel good.

I was a little stiff to start, but after the first 15 minutes or so I was really opening up. That’s kind of a first for me. I usually don’t open up if I’m stiff going in at the start. I see that as a plus for me.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, yoga X2 is nice in that it’s barely an hour. That makes it more doable compared to the yoga in P90X. Thank you Beachbody. I’m off to a great start today and I believe it has to do with that workout.

Ah yoga X2, I did it. How about you?

GDC Yoga

Waking up this morning was not as exciting as I like it to be. I’m in a different town and for some reason the amount of traveling I’m doing is catching up. I was a little sluggish this morning. I pushed myself to do what I call GDC yoga. I say that because I’m attending the GDC and I need a pick me up to get me moving today.

Fortunately yoga doesn’t require much in the way of things. Which is why it was good to get to today. Got my blood moving. I noticed there were some movements where I had better extension. That’s a good thing. Additionally I had a moment in Crane where I had the move right where it should be. A personal best for me with the length of Crane I held in balance. I’m finally starting to get it right and that’s satisfying.

Time for breakfast and a whole lot of walking, greeting and talking. It’s Geek Game Time. Plus networking with developers to push for music work.

X2 Yoga Ending Week Four

Today marks the last time through Yoga X2 for the recovery week of Phase one. I’m really beginning to see body changes in this first third of P90X2. That’s truly remarkable. I’m happy to see these changes occur. Have to put a thank you out to Tony, Carl and all the Beachbody peeps that brought this program to life. In a way it’s sad to see X2 yoga ending week four, but I’m really looking forward to phase two.

Stay tuned. The Journey continues.
